Physiotherapy

There are many reasons why you may be considering physiotherapy, whether you have an injury, require post-operation rehabilitation, or are experiencing a chronic condition or pain that you would like advice on how to manage.

The aim of physiotherapy is to return you full function, and/or maximise your potential, as quickly as possible.

A full assessment involves questions about your current injury, condition or concern and relevant past medical history, followed by a physical assessment.  I look beyond your biomechanics to also consider the emotional and physiological impact of any injury or condition.

An initial consultation lasts about 45-60 minutes. The aim is to assess your issue and  agree a treatment plan. A treatment plan may consist of some or all of the following:

  • a home exercise plan, involving strengthening, mobility or movement
    pattern work

  • targeted muscle activation homework

  • breathing exercises

  • hands-on therapy

  • joint mobilisations

  • hot/cold therapy

Physiotherapy is suitable for anyone who wants to take responsibility for their own healing, under the guidance of a qualified professional.
