Lifting Barbells

Rehabilitation programmes are designed to help you recover from an acute injury, surgical procedure or a flare-up of a long-term condition.

Effective rehabilitation will ensure you can return to your daily life and/or fitness routine as soon as possible. It can also reduce the risk of the injury recurring or adversely affecting other areas of your body and movement.

Pink Clouds

If you struggle with recurring or persistent pain, or experience discomfort that moves around your body, you may find yourself repeatedly treating the symptoms of your pain but never getting to the cause.

I can help you to explore multiple techniques that can assist in managing or resolving your recurring or persistent pain.

Home Fitness

Many of my services can be accessed remotely in the comfort of your own home. These include:

  • strength and balance exercises

  • 15-minute workouts

Back Pain

The sympathetic nervous system or ‘fight or flight’ system responds to perceived threat and readies us for action.  The parasympathetic nervous system or ‘rest and digest’ system, allows the body to relax and recover. The balance between these two systems can have a profound impact on our physical and mental performance, and our experience of pain.

Stones Massage

Many of us struggle to relax, and often we don’t realise how much tension we are carrying in our bodies as a result.

A relaxation session may involve:

  • calming breathing techniques

  • hands-on work around the ribcage

  • using a Sensate device to stimulate the vagus nerve

  • gentle massage with hot stones

About

I'm a qualified physiotherapist practising in Braunton, north Devon. As an experienced and holistic practitioner, I believe in empowering people to perform to the best of their ability irrespective of age or fitness level.

I have a particular interest in the effects of stress on human movement and performance. I can help you in addressing chronic movement adaptations that cause pain, discomfort or recurring injury.

On a personal level, I have had my own experience of orthopaedic trauma and long-term rehabilitation, which has been uniquely helpful in my development as a practitioner, giving me an insight into rehabilitation from the patient/client perspective.

I have worked in a broad range of physio settings, including intensive care, cardiac intensive care, orthopaedics and trauma, amputee rehabilitation, care of the elderly, acute stroke unit, intermediate care and musculoskeletal outpatients.
